AP BSNL GPRS/3G Base Data Tariff Revised w.e.f 15-Dec-2015

BSNL revised it's data tariff for 2G/3G prepaid customers from current 2p/10KB to 3p/10KB with effect from 15-Dec-2015.

Earlier, BSNL revised it's data tariff for 2G/3G customers from 1p/10KB to 2p/10KB with effect from 18 Feb 11.

AP BSNL New Data Service Activation/Deactivation Procedure

According to the recent TRAI guidelines, AP & Telangan BSNL has implemented new procedure for activating/deactivating data services with short code to toll-free number 1925.

• To activate data service, send START to 1925
• To deactivate data service, send STOP to 1925

This guidelines is issued by the TRAI to protect consumers from activating data services without their consent.

AP&Telangana BSNL: New Data STV-56 with 30 Days Validity

BSNL introduces new data STV-56 under 2G & 3G prepaid mobile services in AP & Telangana telecom circle with effect from 16-July-2015.

This is a very good STV, costs less with longer validity of 30 days useful especially for people with less/occasional browsing on mobile.

AP BSNL Launches "Amulya" Prepaid Plan from 11-July-2015

BSNL Launches new "Amulya Prepaid Plan" from 11-July-2015 under 2G&3G prepaid services in AP & Telangana BSNL telecom circle.

This plan is available for only new customers till 29-June-2016, existing customers are not allowed to migrate to this plan.

BSNL Public WiFi Hotspot@Tankbund First Impression: Good Speed and Stable Connection

BSNL in collobaration with Quadgen Wireless launched it's first public wifi hotspot in south india around Hussainsagar lake, which was inaugurated by Telangana IT minister KTR yesterday evening (16-Apr-2015).

I wanted to experience this first of it's kind service in Hyderabad, I thought I will test it today from my office as it is within 10km radius, But to my surprise I didn't get any open hotspot, then I decided to go to tankbund and check in the evening.

Around 6PM, I reached Tankbund. On the way to Tankbund I stopped at different places and checked for open hotspot but I didn't find any. Finally after reaching tankbund I got open hotspot with QFI-BSNL SSID.

How to connect?

When you connect to this hotspot, you will be redirected to login in screen where you can submit your mobile number (to get verification code), name and email. Enter the verification code you get via SMS to mobile number and click on submit then you will be connected and ready to use your 30 minute free quota.

When I checked the speed with speedtest.net, first time I got 9.61Mbps(DL)/2.83Mbps(UL) and second time I got 16.33Mbps(DL)/7.13Mbps(UL) speeds.

I could download a 1.1GB torrent file (not a pirated movie!!!) in less than 10minutes.

When I left the Tankbund after crossing approximately 100meters wifi hotspot got disconnected.

My first impression after using for 20-25 minutes is speed is good and stable but limited range as opposed to proposed 10km range.

AP BSNL Reaches 1 Crore Wireless Connections Milestone in October-2014

As per the latest telecom subscriber base report released by TRAI in Dec-2014, AP BSNL (AP and TG) reached the milestone of 1 crore wireless connections in Oct-2014. 

57,060 new costumers joined BSNL network in October-2014 and as on 31-Oct-2014 total subscribers are 1,00,03,288.
