How to Unsubscribe from Unwanted Value Added Services

Monday 18 March 2013

Of late BSNL users are complaining about activation of Value Added Services (VAS) without their knowledge.

Telecom Regulatory Authority of India(TRAI) came out with a common number for all operators to which you can a send a message to stop the menace of unwanted VAS.

Now you can stop the unwanted VAS services by sending SMS to toll-free number 155223. Send STOP to 155223 to get the details of VAS services on your number.

If no VAS is active, you will get a message as shown in first figure.

If VAS is active, you will get the VAS details, then reply appropriately as shown in second figure.

As shown in second figure, video bonanza service is active on my number, which I didn't do. I replied with 1 to stop video service. I got a conformation message saying it will be deactivated within four hours along with a reference number.

This method can be used not only to stop unwanted VAS but also the services which you subscribed earlier and don't want to continue now.

Have you ever experienced unwanted service activation on your AP BSNL number?
